It's probably not up there with killing Osama Bin Laden, but here's one more thing the Obama campaign can take credit for: Bringing back André Cymone. The Minneapolis native, who was one of Prince's earliest bandmates and closest childhood friends, just released his first new song in 15 years. Simply titled "America," the tune was inspired by President Obama, and all proceeds from its digital sales are going into the campaign coffers. It's a pretty killer track, too, the sort of anthemic rocker a lot of Prince's fans would like to hear him crank out again (and no, that's not any kind of statement on the politics involved).

Cymone and Prince started playing in bands together in their teens, and Prince even lived with André's family for a while when things got bad with his dad. The two had a dispute in 1981 that ended with Cymone quitting Prince's pre-Revolution band. He proceeded to launch a modestly successful solo career, which included 1985's top 10 R&B hit "The Dance Electric," penned by his then-exploding pal. Cymone then went on to work with Jody Watley in more ways than just musical (they were married and have a son together). He still lives in Los Angeles. His three early-'80s albums were reissued on CD just last year.
