Playlets for a cause

Heads up to lovers of good eats, good drink and strong acting:
Thirst Theater, which was founded in 2004 by professional Twin Cities actors to produce playlets in venues such as restaurants and bars, is returning Monday with a new offering.
The company is offering its bite-sized plays to benefit the effort for marriage equality.
“The evening will show couples of different orientations dealing with the idea of relationships at all stages,” said Joseph Scrimshaw (above), who has written a monologue that will be performed by Randy Reyes. The actors who will perform the playlets include theater founders Tracey Maloney (below) and Chris Carlson.
Tapped playwrights include Bill Corbett, Allegra Lingo, Sarah Gubbins, Jim Lichtscheidl and Jim Robinson, whose piece centers on “a divorcing couple who invite a mutual friend to a bar to make him decide whose friendship he will keep.”
The performances take place Mondays Oct. 1, 8 and 15 at Eat Street Social, 18 W 26th St., Mpls., $25. Tickets available at the door or online.
