Theater Latte Da has announced four shows for the next season, including the largest production in the company's 15-year history.

Artistic director Peter Rothstein told a barbeque crowd at a private home in south Minneapolis that the troupe will stage "Aida" next January in a partnership with the Hennepin Theatre Trust at the Pantages Theater on Hennepin Avenue. Latte Da already produces the holiday show "All is Calm" each December with Cantus at the Pantages. "Aida," though, marks a significant upward step for the company. The Pantages is three times the capacity of the largest venue Latte has used for a non-holiday production. And, although details weren't announced at the dinner, the partnership with the Theatre Trust gives Latte Da more heft in marketing and reaching audiences.
Rothstein also announced two shows for next season that will be staged at the McKnight Theatre in the Ordway Center. Stephen Sondheim's "Company" is slated for fall and "The Light in the Piazza," with a book by Craig Lucas and music by Adam Guettel is set for next spring. The McKnight has been a favorite spot for Latte Da, with memorable productions of "The Full Monty," "Evita" and "25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee."
No casting or dates were announced last night. Rothstein said details will come out in about a week and that season packages will go on sale Aug. 1.
