McKnight theater awards announced

Playwright Christina Ham, whose "Crash Test Dummies" recently premiered at Red Eye Theater in Minneapolis, has won a $25,000 McKnight advancement grant. Cory Hinkle, another playwright, also has won the coveted award. In addition to the announced purse, each has access to additional funds to develop new work.
 
The 2012-13 McKnight theater artist fellowships go to actor Sarah Agnew, a Guthrie Theater regular who has performed thorughout across the nation; puppet and mask creator Christopher Lutter-Gardella, owner and artistic director of Puppet Farm Arts; and veteran Twin Cities lighting designer Mike Wangen. 
Each gets $25,000, plus artistic development funds.
 
Additionally, New York writer Betty Shamieh has won the McKnight national residency and commission. The commission comes with a $12,500, plus development time at the Playwrights' Center, which administers the awards.
