At least one of the hundreds of employees slashed from the New Orleans Times Picayune payroll is getting a reprieve.

Brett Anderson, a former Twin Cities writer and critic and the son of former Minnesota Gov. Wendell Anderson, will return to covering the restaurant beat after he finishes a year-long Harvard fellowship.

According to the Times Picayune's website, Nola.com, editor Jim Arnoss said Friday:

"We told Brett then that he would have a job with us when the fellowship ended. We should have communicated that this week when we announced the changes at our paper. We intend to honor our commitment to Brett. His work has been integral to the recovery of the dining scene in New Orleans."
