For a second consecutive year, Macy's Glamorama is going au courant with its music. On Aug. 3 at the Orpheum Theatre, there will be no blasts from the past like Macy Gray, MC Hammer or Cyndi Lauper. Headliner Robin Thicke is the dreamy soul man behind the hit "Sex Therapy."

Even though he's the son of TV's Alan Thicke and Gloria Loring, he gets points for being married to the knockout Paula Patton. Moreover, his star is rising with the new ABC singing contest "Duets" — though he's not in the same category as last year's headliner Bruno Mars.

Karmin, this year's other Glamorama act, is another story. This girl/boy Boston pop duo gave a polarizing performance on "Saturday Night Live" in February — three months before their album was released. Their single "Brokenhearted" has become a danceclub favorite.

Although Thicke and Karmin may be on the playlists of many Glam-goers, we're wondering how these American acts fit in with this year's theme: "British Invasion: The Music Then. The Fashion Now."

The 20th annual event is a benefit for the Children's Cancer Research Fund. Designers include Sean John, Marc Jacobs and Donna Karan, among others.

Tickets, which are priced from $60 to $1,000, will go on sale June 8 at Ticketmaster and the State Theatre box office. A pre-sale for American Express cardholders began today; for details, go to www.macys.com/glamtickets.
