For the first time in half a decade, country hitmakers Rascal Flatts are not planning to perform at Xcel Energy Center this year. That’s because they’re going to be at the Minnesota State Fair grandstand instead.
The band’s Aug. 30 concert (a Thursday night) was announced this morning along with the previously confirmed Aug. 23 grandstand show by state fair vet Bonnie Raitt with fellow Rock and Roll Hall of Famer Mavis Staples. Tickets to Raitt go on sale April 14 at 10 a.m. for $44.50 and $34.50 though www.mnstatefair.org, www.etix.org or 800-514-3849. Rascal Flatts’ show with Little Big Town, the Eli Young Band and Edens Edge will be available April 14 at noon for $63, $53 and $43. The fair's box office will also open on April 14 to buy tickets in person. These shows join previously announced grandstand concerts by Alan Jackson (Aug. 24), the Happy Together Tour (Aug. 27) and Kiss with Motley Crue (Aug. 29)
Rascal Flatt's latest album, “Changed,” hits stores today and will be promoted with a special big-screen concert showing in movie theaters across the country on Thursday night. The country trio previously headlined the grandstand in 2006 but has been at the X every year since then, and it even filmed an ABC TV special at the St. Paul arena last year.
