A new brewery in northeast Minneapolis? Indeed!

Pretty soon we’ll have to call Minneapolis “Brewtown, USA.” After a quiet decade of non-brewing, the city is in the midst of a microbrewery surge (thanks, Surly Bill!). Now comes Indeed Brewing, a self-described “hop-forward” brewery that plans to open this summer. The upstart beer company is the brainchild of three former college roommates (Nathan Berndt, Tom Whisenand and Rachel Anderson). From what I’ve heard, they’re all about the bold brews. And they’ve found the right man to lead their cause: Town Hall alum Josh Bischoff is their head brewer.

The 12,000 square foot brewery (and taproom) will be located in a century-old warehouse in northeast Minneapolis (not far from Uppercut Boxing Gym). The building is undergoing a complete renovation with artist lofts planned for the upper levels. The building is located in the Northeast Arts District.

The brewhouse will have capacity for 3,800 barrels a year. Indeed will start with two flagship beers (both hoppy), but they haven’t released details yet. One thing they are proud to announce: production will focus on cans. They plan to sell six-packs in stores. Read more about their can plans here.

Berndt tells me they hope to start brewing in June and have beer on tap in bars and restaurants in July. The cans will hit stores by September.

If you want to learn more about the brewery, spend some time on its design-friendly website, which is filled with details. Taking a cue from its arty surroundings in Northeast, the crew produced this nifty video introducing the Indeed brand:
