The British composer Judith Bingham will be in the Twin Cities later in January, under the auspices of Plymouth Congregational Church. Here's the press release: Judith Bingham will attend a recital of her solo vocal music and the premiere of a new anthem on Sunday, January 22 at Plymouth Congregational Church, Minneapolis. The 3 p.m. recital (free of charge) will feature the five Plymouth Church soloists – Maria Jette, Jenny French, Lisa Drew, Dan Dressen and James Bohn with Philip Brunelle, pianist. The singers will each sing the U.S. premiere of a Bingham work and also include music of John Gardner, Gerald Finzi, Benjamin Britten, Alan Bullard and Ralph Vaughan Williams. On that Sunday morning, at the 10:30 a.m. service, the Plymouth Choir with soprano Maria Jette will premiere Bingham's new anthem EDEN.

Judith Bingham, a former member of the BBC Singers, has composed a number of symphonic works for various British orchestras (BBC Philharmonic, Bournemouth) as well as for many choral works for the Three Choirs Festival, VocalEssence, the BBC Singers, the King's College Choir, Plymouth Church and many others. www.plymouth.org.
