They look like young Midwest small-college graduates who know as much about bluegrass and old mountain folk songs as I do neuroscience (and yes, that's entirely unfairly judging a book by its cover). But the Dusty Porch Singers actually prove themselves as one of the Twin Cities' most charming new acoustic-picker acts on the debut album they're celebrating Thursday night at 7th Street Entry.

The all-female quintet has been steadily picking up gigs around town over the past year at the 331 Club, Fine Line and elsewhere. They also did a mini-tour through England in May. On their eight-song debut album, winkingly titled "... yes, let's," the Dusties have sharpened their harmonies into warm, blanket-like layers of bittersweetness. The disc -- samples of which you can hear on their Facebook band page -- includes playful updates of "Eliza Jane," "Saw 'Em on the Mountain" and "Fox on the Run," each laced with fiddle, banjo and mandolin. The music sounds more clean coffeeshop than dusty porch, but it's a flavorful brew nonetheless. The Dusties are playing Thursday with fellow folky harmonizers the Ericksens and the Parlour Suite (8 p.m., $5).
