Spoiler alert. Suddenly, when you least expect it, you could experience music, dance or song. People in St. Paul will have this opportunity, under a new program called Random Acts of Culture, financed with $45,000 from the Knight Foundation.

Thus, you could be eating a sandwich in Rice Park or minding your own business in a skyway and be briefly entertained by a string quartet, a dance duo, an aria-singing soprano or a guitar hero.

The Arts Partnership, which includes the St. Paul Chamber Orchestra, Minnesota Opera, the Ordway Center and the Schubert Club, will produce the events, which will take place from the state Capitol to Lowertown. St. Paul is one of eight U.S. cities participating. Times and dates were not announced, so watch out.

"Our goal is to surprise and delight the public with extraordinary cultural events in unexpected places. We hope this will be a reminder of the Twin Cities' vibrant cultural community and an invitation to new audiences to become involved in that community," said Sarah Lutman, president of The Arts Partnership. Lutman also is president of the SPCO.
