Courtney Love loses the tweet-suit

She’s out a lot of money. AP says:

Courtney Love's 140 character Twitter rants against a fashion designer are costing her more than $430,000, an attorney says.

The singer has settled a lawsuit filed by Dawn Simorangkir, who sued the Hole frontwoman in March 2009 accusing her of making false statements about the designer and her past in a series of postings on the microblogging site Twitter and Love's Myspace blog. Simorangkir's lawsuit claimed Love became angry with her after she completed five outfits for the singer and sent her a bill.

In case you’ve forgotten, here’s how the story unfolded in the spring of 2009, courtesy of ABC.com:

Many of Love's alleged Twitter messages appear to be combative, and are disjointed and littered with spelling errors. Among those cited in Simorangkir's complaint:

"oi vey don't f*** with my wardrobe or you will end up in a circle of corched earth hunted til your dead."

"as one of her many bullied victims smashes her face soon as she's an assault addict herself (there's apparently prostitution in her record too"

Simorangkir claims the rants also continued on Love's MySpace page.

The original complaint said ""Whether caused by drug-induced psychosis, a warped understanding of reality, or the belief that money and fame allow her to disregard the law, Love has embarked on what is nothing short of an obsessive and delusional crusade to destroy Simorangkir's reputation and her livelihood." Why does it have to be one or the other? Why couldn’t it be all three?

If you’re curious what the clothes look like, Boudoir Queen’s site is here. There’s also a link on the page to an event called Secret Circus - if you’re interested in clever web design, give it a look. If you’re at work, turn down the volume. But you probably saw the headline about Courtney Love and did that already.
