Like a poetic, lovelorn email that was accidentally sent out to everyone in high school instead of just the intended target, Adam Young of Owl City fame and Owatonna High School wallflower obscurity has just issued a new track on his website for Valentine's Day that finds him openly swooning for the popular girl everyone wants to date. The girl in this case also happens to be one of the most popular entertainers in the world, Taylor Swift.

Young was apparently the last Swift fan in the world to figure out that "Enchanted," from her latest album "Speak Now," was written about a meeting the two young pop stars had in New York last year. They had reportedly traded emails before that, and she spoke fondly of his music. Her song took that fondness to new heights. The liner notes for the tune even spell out "A-D-A-M" in not-so-secret code, so it wasn't exactly a mystery on par with "You're So Vain." Young, 24, wrote on his site that when he finally spelled it out, "A colorful swirl of memories flashed before my eyes as it all added up. My jaw hit the floor. The track is absolutely gorgeous and I’m so tremendously honored that Taylor would write such an elegant song and thereby offer a gracious nod in my direction."

His response was to make his own "Enchanted" song -- a very direct, even-less-secretly coded "Enchanted" that echoes back lines like, "Your eyes whispered 'Have we met?' / Across the room your silhouette makes its way to me," and concludes, "Oh Taylor, I was so enchanted to meet you, too."

The recording has you wondering if a) he split up with his girl from back home and is really looking to date Swift, 2) he sees this back-and-forth as a very wise marketing maneuver, or (most likely) 3) he's singing about her the way he sings about fireflies, oceans and other beautiful things that inspire him. It's unclear if the track is in any way tied to Owl City's hotly anticipated follow-up album, "All Things Bright and Beautiful," details of which will soon be announced. One thing that is clear: The ball is in your court, Ms. Swift.
