It looks like the Mall of America, which has shops, an amusement park, an aquarium and celebrity-studded events, will be the site of a circus next spring.

Montreal-based Cirque du Soleil, which has been coming to the Twin Cities regularly for the past decade, will put up a big top near one of the world's largest shopping malls for "Ovo." Mailings to potential patrons indicate that the whimsical, insect-themed show will open May 26.

"Ovo," whose narrative involves an egg, an ant colony and a romance between a passionate fellow and ladybug, has been touring the nation to fairly good reviews. It has played Boston, New York and Washington, D.C.

"Ovo" follows other Cirque productions that have played various Twin Cities locations, including "Dralion," "Kooza," "Alegria" and "Saltimbanco."
