After a national search, the St. Paul Chamber Orchestra named Helane Anderson as its director of artistic planning at the beginning of this year.
Anderson's last day at the Chamber Orchestra is Aug. 31. The SPCO said only that Anderson would "pursue other interests."
The SPCO will seek a replacement for Anderson, who was charged with working with SPCO President Sarah Lutman and the orchestra's Artistic Partners and artistic vision committee to make decisions about programming, repertoire and guest artists.
Before joining the SPCO, Anderson had worked for two years as an artistic administrator at the Los Angeles Philharmonic, producing the orchestra's classical programming at the Hollywood Bowl, as well as series devoted to chamber music, new music, Baroque, organ and educational concerts.
Before her stint in Los Angeles, Anderson was director of composers and repertoire at Boosey and Hawkes, a classical-music publisher.
John Mangum held the planning position before leaving last August to become artistic administrator for the New York Philharmonic.
