Starts today: Sun sleeps in. Temperatures drop. Leaves tremble. Artists party. They've been working hard all summer, painting, potting, printing, sewing, computing, bejeweling, blowing (glass) and binding (books). So the 300 creative denizens of St. Paul's Lowertown and nearby environs are throwing open the doors to their studios for an autumnal weekend of selling. Painter Matthew Rucker caught the spirit of the season in his fetching personification of "Autumn," shown here. As always there will be performances, music, food and an ever-expanding collection of galleries, restaurants and coffee shops joining the festivities. This 28th crawl includes 25 buildings and extends up University and Raymond Avenues, reaches Harriet Island, and eddies through the Grand Avenue neighborhood. (6-10 p.m. today, noon-8 p.m. Sat., noon-5 p.m. Sun. Free. For map, images and artist list, go to www.artcrawl.org. For updates call 651-292-4373.)
