Art: 'Lost Land'

Last update: August 7, 2008 - 4:46 PM

'LOST LAND'

Reception today: Geographic landscapes and the psychological terrain of childhood shape the new mixed-media work of Cheryl Wilgren Clyne and Kimberly Tschida Petters at Rosalux Gallery. Petters reduces landscapes to elemental forms -- wedges that suggest hills, or pastel lines to define distant horizons. Clyne combines storybook illustrations into ink-jet collages and primitive animations that hint at unresolved story lines. Besides recent work by the two Twin Cities artists, Rosalux will present new images by three photographers from the Beijing Film Academy -- Tang Meng, Rea Xiao and Tang Xuan, whose dreamy photo of a sleeping beauty, shown here, is from her "Sink or Swim" series. (Reception 7 to 10 p.m. today, free. Rosalux Gallery, 1101 Washington Av. S., Mpls. Ends Aug. 31, free. 612-747-3942 or www.rosaluxgallery.com)
