YOUR GUIDE TO THE TWIN CITIES
Let the jockeying begin. With the news that Oprah Winfrey is shutting down her talk show and moving to her own cable network, the stars are scrambling to take her place. Sarah Palin is a presumed frontrunner, but another early entrant in the chatfest sweepstakes is Paula Abdul.
"I have really great ideas," Abdul recently told "Extra," the syndicated entertainment magazine show. "It would be fun and quirky, and it would be insightful," she said. "It would be fun to jam with the band and have amazing guests and introduce amazing different formats on the show."
That would be, like, amazing.
Abdul, 47, said she'd like to do a talk show in the next two to three years. Get this: Oprah said she's stepping down in September 2011, which is -- OMG -- two years from now! Amazing.
Grammy winner Abdul, most recently of "American Idol," ticked off her attributes: "I have the ability to connect with people on a level. I've proven to pierce the heartstrings, but also to be celebratory and bring out the best in people."
Sounds like she could take the talk show concept and really make it her own.
If her first guest were Simon Cowell, we might even tune in.
