Met Council publishes free map to regional parks and trails

Last update: September 9, 2008 - 10:24 AM

The Twin Cities metro area is blessed with an abundance of urban parks, nature areas and trails that offer a wide variety of recreational opportunities.

To help area residents take advantage, the Metropolitan Council has published a colorful map showing the 49 regional parks and park reserves in the seven-county metro area along with 29 regional trails and six recreational areas.

The map also gives suggestions on what to do when you get there, such as scuba diving at Square Lake Park in Lake Elmo and star gazing at Baylor Park in Norwood Young America. Recreational opportunities, including swimming, picnicking, boating, fishing, horseback riding and winter activities, also are listed for each park.

Copies are free and available by call 651-602-1140 or by e-mailing the Metropolitan Council at data.center@metc.state.mn.us.
