Zombie Pub Crawl X: Now in its 10th year of "braaaiins" chanting and beer chugging, the ZPC spreads to the Minneapolis Warehouse District, where drunken zombies already roam the streets. WTF entertainment includes Billy Corgan's Resistance Pro Wrestling group, a brains-eating contest featuring stud stomach stretcher Takeru Kobayashi and Flavor Flav and the Flavortronz — a 1970s-90s cover band fronted by the clock-rocking Public Enemy hype man. Yup. EDM stars Steve Aoki and Rusko, the again relevant Juicy J and Minneapolis rapper/instigator Prof top the musical lineup.

Autumn Brew Review: This fall festival is one of the most anticipated beer events of the year, which is why tickets are long gone (unless you turn to those pesky scalpers). Last year 3,300 beer fans sampled suds from more than 100 breweries at the historic Grain Belt Brewery complex in northeast Minneapolis. The 14th annual sip-a-thon also features live music, beer education sessions and food vendors.

Darkness Day: Every year the craft-beer crazies show up in hordes at Surly's Brooklyn Center brewery to await the release of Darkness, but this decadent Russian imperial stout — aged in bourbon barrels this year — is only half the draw. The night before, the massive line turns into an informal beer fest, with tailgaters sharing and swapping bottles of obscure ales and homebrews. The party proper continues the next day with tons of Surly beer and live music usually reflecting brewer Todd Haug's headbanging penchant. This year marks the last Darkness Day before Surly's new brewery opens in southeast Minneapolis.

Eastlake Craft Brewery: Props to Ryan Pitman for coming up with the ultimate "why didn't I think of that?" idea. Eastlake's owner/brewer is opening his taproom in Minneapolis' Midtown Global Market, surrounded by an abundance of food options begging to be washed down with a tasty pint. Pitman hopes to launch with four or more beers brewed on his seven-barrel system and will offer slick stainless steel growlers.

Iron Bartender: The North Star Bartenders Guild's annual cocktail throwdown moves to the Pourhouse in downtown Minneapolis this year. Teams repping bars around town compete in this four-week, Sunday night tourney, testing their mixing skills. A room full of bartenders is always a riot, so be prepared for witty/boozy banter, outside-the-box drinks and mouthfeel jokes aplenty.
