Review 'Guitar Hero: Aerosmith.' more games

Last update: August 8, 2008 - 12:51 PM

GUITAR HERO: AEROSMITH

2 stars

"Guitar Hero: Aerosmith" is the latest title in the popular rhythm-game series, and its focus on the veteran Boston rockers limits its appeal.

The bulk of the game's 40 or so songs are Aerosmith tunes. Factoring in several solo songs from Aerosmith guitarist Joe Perry, the band or its members hog the spotlight, leaving only a dozen or so spots open for cuts from the likes of Joan Jett, the Clash, Ted Nugent and the Kinks.

That's a poor variety of music, all things considered.

The well-tried "Guitar Hero" game play is unchanged, so this one really comes down to how much one loves Aerosmith enough to spend $60 on a glorified song pack with about half the track count of "Guitar Hero III," or not?
