Journey, Fall Out Boy, Paramore booked for State Fair grandstand

The Minnesota State Fair hasn’t stopped believing in Journey. Those enduring ‘80s rockers will return to the grandstand on Sept. 1 – Labor Day – with Joan Jett and the Blackhearts opening.

Even though frontman Steve Perry left the fold years ago, Journey’s popularity has remained strong, thanks, in part, to resurging interest in the hit “Don’t Stop Believin’” and the uncanny Perry-like vocals of energetic lead singer Arnel Pineda.

Journey tickets, priced at $48 and $58, will go on sale at 10 a.m. Saturday at mnstatefair.org, etix.com, 800-514-3849 and at the State Fair box office until 1 p.m.

Also rocking the grandstand will be Fall Out Boy and Paramore on Aug. 28. The emo-rockers from Chicago enjoyed a comeback last year with “My Songs Know What You Did in the Dark.” Paramore showcased its revamped lineup -- still featuring singer Hayley Williams – in 2013 on such hits as “Now” and “Daydreaming.”

Tickets for Fall Out Boy and Paramore, priced at $51 (general admission) and $41 (reserved), will go on sale at noon Saturday.

More State Fair grandstand acts will be announced later. Previously announced headliners include Tim McGraw, Kid Rock, Fifth Harmony and Linkin Park.
