Stage spotlights: Zenon Dance Co., Walking Shadow at the Guthrie, Ten Thousand Things

Opening Friday: Zenon has a spring season filled with intriguing works from a rich variety of dance makers. The evening features the world premiere of “Folktale Zero” by Minnesota-based choreographer Daniel Stark that draws upon Icelandic lore, as well as fresh work from New York/Tel Aviv’s Netta Yerushalmy. The repertory program features recent MacArthur genius grant recipient Kyle Abraham’s pulse-pounding “My Quarreling Heart” (2011) plus Danny Buraczeski’s “Ezekiel’s Wheel” (1999), a celebration of James Baldwin’s words and spirit. ‘THREE MUSKETEERS’

Opening: Playwright John Heimbuch unveils his new take on this durable story for Walking Shadow Theatre Company. Amy Rummenie, one of Heimbuch’s partners in the troupe, will direct the Alexandre Dumas adventure about d’Artagnan’s quest to join the Musketeers’ Guard. Heimbuch previously has adapted “Dracula,” “Sleepy Hollow” and “Mary Stuart.” Rummenie is one of the smartest young directors working in the Twin Cities. DIRT STICKS

Opening: Ten Thousand Things continues its partnership with playwright Kira Obolensky with this world premiere. Obolensky has been producing new shows as part of a three-year Mellon grant with the company, headed by Michelle Hensley. This play is about a mysterious death, its aftermath and the people who are haunted by it 20 years later. Hensley’s cast includes Stephen Cartmell, Sun Mee Chomet and Kimberly Richardson.
