Tuesday: Sometimes it seems as if Janelle Monáe might be too ambitious for her own good. For her second full-length album, this fall’s “The Electric Lady,” she has delivered another concept album that sounds like the soundtrack to a far-out sci-fi movie. Even though the much-respected Atlanta multi-talent gets assists from Prince, Esperanza Spalding, Miguel, Solange and Erykah Badu, there are moments that wallow in 1970s mellowness. Her stunning 2010 debut, “The ArchAndroid,” seemed more sonically adventurous. But “Electric Lady” is still captivating. One of the most dynamic performers to emerge in the past five years, Monáe started her tour last week, and here’s hoping she’ll have the kinks worked out by show No. 5. (7 p.m. Tue. $23.50. Skyway Theatre, 711 Hennepin Av. S., Mpls. Tickets at Skyway box office, Electric Fetus or www.ticketmaster.com.)
