The St. Paul Chamber Orchestra has announced its 2013-14 Liquid Music series, the second season for the program curated by new-music enthusiast Kate Nordstrum. It's intended to expand the classical menu with premieres and collaborations. Concerts next year will be at the SPCO Music Room, the Historic Fitzgerald Theater and the Amsterdam Bar — all in St. Paul — and at Walker Art Center and Aria (the former Theatre de la Jeune Lune) in Minneapolis.

Among the highlights in the 10-program series:

Violinist Hilary Hahn and German composer/pianist Hauschka will perform selections from their new release, "Silfra," at Aria on Jan. 12 The Schubert Club is co-presenting as part of its new Mix series.

Russian Olga Bell, now a Brooklyn-based musician and singer who has worked with Dirty Projectors, will be at the Walker on Feb. 13 in a collaboration with Tom Vek and Angel Deradoorian. "Origin/Outcome" will also feature musicians from the Twin Cities and Brooklyn. Bell will also unveil her nine-movement song cycle "Krai."

Jherek Bischoff will be featured Oct. 18 at the Fitzgerald. The Seattle composer will join Norwegian vocalist Sondre Lerche, Iceland's Ólöf Arnalds, Poliça's Channy Leaneagh and Deerhoof drummer Greg Saunier. They will perform Bischoff's 2012 release "Composed."

The string quartet Ethel will perform "Documerica," a new piece featuring work by several composers, including Mary Ellen Childs, on June 3, 2014, at Aria. "Documerica" is a multimedia production with video projections and archival images from the 1970s "Project Documerica."

Other programs in the Liquid Music series include composer/conductor Daniel Bjarnason and violist Nadia Sirota, composer/pianist Timo Andres and new music by rapper Serengeti, composer Son Lux and singer/songwriter Sufjan Stevens.

The season opens Sept. 22 at the Amsterdam featuring Zola Jesus (Nika Danilova), former SPCO artistic partner Stephen Prutsman, current SPCO musicians Stephen Copes, Ruggero Allifranchini and Maiya Papach, percussionist Ian Ding and cellist Ashley Bathgate.
