Donnie Wahlberg and Jennifer Esposito on “Blue Bloods.”

Q A few months ago, Ron and Amy Shirley of "Lizard Lick Towing" were on "Conan," and then a couple weeks later their show was gone from TruTV. Are we to assume that they accepted the offer to buy them out and sold their lifelong business in North Carolina and won't be back on TV?

Also, Is "Being Human" (not the original BBC version, but the one that airs on Syfy starring Sam Witwer) ever returning to TV?

A "Lizard Lick Towing" will return to TruTV with new episodes on Jan. 21.

"Being Human" will be back with new episodes on Syfy on Jan. 14.

'Damages' and other DVDs

Q Has the "Damages" Season 5 DVD set been released? There is nothing about it on Amazon.

Also, I saw your response to a reader several months ago that the "China Beach" DVD release was hung up over the music rights. Is this also the reason we haven't seen the DVD release of "The Wonder Years"?

A Sony hasn't announced a release date for Season 5 of "Damages." The fourth season came out in June. So it stands to reason that Season 5 could come out around that time next year.

And, yes, "The Wonder Years" is the quintessential example of a TV series whose home video release hasn't happened due to music-rights issues.

'Blue Bloods' missing someone

Q What happened to Jackie (Jennifer Esposito) on "Blue Bloods"? I noticed that she wasn't on for a few episodes and that Danny had a new partner. Then on a recent episode, she packed up her stuff and departed. I really liked her as Danny's partner. What gives?

Also, Hallmark Movie Channel started with the Christmas movies before Halloween. Then a few channels showed them before Thanksgiving. Why can't they wait until after Thanksgiving at least?

A The case of Jennifer Esposito's character on "Blue Bloods" is a strange one.

The actress blasted CBS for refusing to acquiesce to her doctor's orders that she work a reduced schedule due to her struggle with celiac disease.

The network responded with a statement to the Hollywood Reporter, saying, "Jennifer has informed us that she is only available to work on a very limited part-time schedule. As a result, she's unable to perform the demands of her role, and we regretfully had to put her character on a leave of absence. She is a wonderfully talented actress, and we hope that she will be able to return at some point in the future."

As for the early Christmas movies, cable networks often see their ratings rise when they show Christmas movies, even before Thanksgiving. If viewers didn't watch them, networks wouldn't show them.
