Re-opening Saturday: Jane Eyre is back. The story of Charlotte Brontë's orphan-turned-governess, which received a mildly gothic staging by John Miller-Stephany last fall at the Guthrie, is being revived with the same cast. Stacia Rice returns to the role of Jane, which she embodied with a muted grace last year, while Sean Haberle plays her quaking employer and lust object, Rochester. In this rococo love story, Jane suffers terribly as a child but grows up to become a functioning adult, including being the caregiver for the children in Rochester's household. Both Jane and Rochester are scarred, wanting souls who, despite their differences, fall for each other. Mirth ensues. (7:30 p.m. Sat., 1 p.m. Sun., 10:30 a.m. Wed., 7:30 p.m. Thu.-next Fri. Ends March 30. Guthrie Theater, 818 S. 2nd St., Mpls. $29-$59. 612-377-2224, and online at www.guthrietheater.org.)
ROHAN PRESTON
Continuing: Heart of the Beast Puppet and Mask Theatre continues its exploration of drinking water with performance, music and video. Striking the environmental zeitgeist, the troupe presents the second in a series of shows that question the use, misuse and privatization of water. (Ever notice that vending machines have replaced water fountains?) HOBT artistic director Sandy Spieler directs the piece. (7:30 p.m. Fri.-Sat., 2 p.m. Sun., 10:30 a.m. Wed.-Thu.; 1500 E. Lake St., Mpls.; $12-$17, 612-721-2535 or www.hobt.org.)
