How did Prince William celebrate turning the big 3-0 on Thursday? Sources said he was planning a private and low-key dinner with a small group of friends in London. He had a lot to celebrate as he marked the milestone: His beautiful wife, Kate, Duchess of Cambridge, his new status as an operational captain in the Royal Air Force Search and Rescue Force, summer plans that include the Olympic Games in London and a tour of Asia -- and an additional $15.5 million in the bank. The future king inherited his share of the estate of his late mother, Princess Diana. Diana, who died at age 36 in an August 1997 car crash, left sons William and Harry the lion's share of her estate: stocks and shares, jewelry, money from her divorce from Prince Charles and other personal belongings from her apartment at Kensington Palace.
Oracle's Ellison buys majority of LanaiOracle Corp. CEO Larry Ellison has agreed to buy 98 percent of the Hawaiian island of Lanai, Gov. Neil Abercrombie said. "His passion for nature, particularly the ocean, is well known," Abercrombie said. Lanai, Hawaii's sixth-largest island with an area of 141 square miles, was sold by billionaire David Murdock's Castle & Cooke Inc. The sale includes two resort hotels, two golf courses and clubhouses, more than 88,000 acres of land, including a 600-acre residential development, a solar farm, and parks and utilities, said an application filed with Hawaii's Public Utilities Commission. The transaction is valued in the "hundreds of millions of dollars," it said. That's no problem for Ellison, who is the world's sixth-richest man with an estimated net worth of $36.4 billion.
