Forty years ago, Associated Press photographer Nick Ut snapped a photo of a naked 9-year-old Vietnamese girl running down the road away from her burning village. She screamed because napalm covered her body.

The famous black-and-white image communicated the horrors of the Vietnam War in a way words never could.

The girl, Kim Phuc, now 49, held a reunion with Ut this past weekend in Buena Park, Calif.

"Today, I'm so happy I helped Kim," said Ut, who still works for the AP and recently returned to her Trang Bang village. "I call her my daughter."

Phuc, now a mother of two sons who lives in Toronto, can finally look at the picture of herself running naked and understand why it remains so powerful. "I'm so thankful that ... I can accept the picture as a powerful gift. Then it is my choice. Then I can work with it for peace."

Stephen Baldwin, Kevin Costner in court

Jury selection began Monday in a legal fight between two Hollywood stars over investments in a device used to try to clean up BP's 2010 oil spill in the Gulf of Mexico. In his lawsuit, actor Stephen Baldwin, top photo, claims Kevin Costner, below, and a business partner duped Baldwin and a friend out of their shares of an $18 million deal for BP to buy oil-separating centrifuges after the April 2010 spill. Federal Judge Martin L.C. Feldman told prospective jurors that they could not be influenced by the celebrity of the actors who were in the New Orleans court. "Celebrity has no place in this courtroom or in any of the issues that need to be resolved by the jury in this trial," Feldman said.
