The White House got some Hollywood star power when Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt stopped by for a chat with President Obama. The actors were spotted in the Oval Office on Wednesday by photographers waiting outside for the president to leave for a trip to Chicago. The White House confirmed that Pitt and Jolie were in Washington to screen Jolie's directorial debut -- "In the Land of Blood and Honey," a movie about Bosnian war crimes -- at the Holocaust museum. The couple dropped by so the president could talk with Jolie, a U.N. Goodwill ambassador, about her work on preventing mass atrocities and combating sexual violence against women. It's not the first time Obama's met with one of the pair. In 2009 the president met with Pitt to discuss his work on rebuilding New Orleans' Ninth Ward after Hurricane Katrina. Jolie also met with CIA Director David Petraeus to get his perspective on cultural trends in Afghanistan for her work with Afghan refugees, said an official close to the former U.S. commander in Afghanistan. They had a similar meeting in Baghdad in 2008.

Lucci to host 'real-life soap'

"All My Children" veteran Susan Lucci is returning to the world of soap operas. But this time, the stories will be real. Lucci will host and narrate "Deadly Affairs," a new prime-time series airing on Investigation Discovery. The show will explore true stories of romance gone wrong and the crimes of passion that resulted, the network said Thursday. "Every day you hear these stories and you think, 'Oh, my goodness!' Then they disappear. You don't know what happened next, and you don't know why they happened," said Lucci, who described the show as a "real-life soap." "I'm hoping that, in exploring them, we'll shed some light on human nature." The 10-episode show is to premiere in the fall.

ARE THEY OR AREN'T THEY?

Actress Halle Berry once said she'd never marry again, but maybe she changed her mind. Or maybe she didn't. Rumors swirled that the Oscar-winning actress was engaged to Olivier Martinez after the French actor's ex, singer Kylie Minogue, tweeted her best wishes. "Congrats to Olivier Martinez and Halle Berry!! #wedding," the Australian pop star tweeted. But reps for Berry decline to comment. And sources told TMZ that the diamond-and-emerald ring that Martinez gave to Berry over the holidays is not an engagement ring. The guessing game continues as Berry wears the gift on her left ring finger and the jeweler told People and Us Weekly that it was an engagement ring.
