SHAKOPEE, Minn. — A company plans to convert part of the abandoned ADC Telecommunications site in Shakopee into a new engineering and manufacturing center.
Emerson Process Management Rosemount said Monday the proposed center would create 500 new jobs over the next five years.
The new facility will cost about $71 million to replace ADC Building 2. Officials from Emerson Process Management, a division of Emerson Electric Co. in St. Louis, say salaries should reach the mid-$60,000 range.
Shakopee officials have been trying to draw new development to the facility for the past 13 years.
The 500,000-square-foot building and surrounding 100-acre site have been vacant for a decade since ADC pulled out of the proposed office and manufacturing complex.
The Star Tribune (http://bit.ly/19Y5S1R) reports the plan would transform about 60 acres of the site.
