A woman lost control of her car on a snowy Lakeville road, collided with an SUV heading the other way and was killed, authorities said Thursday.

The crashed occurred Wednesday afternoon on County Road 50 near Jaguar Avenue in Lakeville, according to police.

Hannah E. Almany, 23, of Lakeville, died Thursday at HCMC in Minneapolis, police said.

Almany was heading south on County Road 50, lost control of her car and crossed the median into the path of the northbound SUV, according to police.

The other driver, Amy A. Torseth, 40, of Savage, and her 11-year-old son were slightly hurt.

"It was snowing, and roads were slippery at the time of the crash," police said in a statement. "With more snow in the forecast for Saturday, Lakeville police are asking parents to talk with young drivers about how to drive on winter roads. All drivers need to slow down, be patient and buckle up on slippery roads."
