SouthWest Transit says there are not enough riders on its local bus routes and it plans to discontinue some service starting Feb. 2.
A public hearing on the proposal Tuesday gave riders a chance to comment on the elimination of Routes 635 and 636.
Route 635 has eight trips that include stops at the SouthWest Station in Eden Prairie plus the Eden Prairie Library, Hennepin Technical College and the intersection of Anderson Lakes Parkway and Chestnut Drive.
Route 636 has four trips that serve SouthWest Station, the Edendale retirement residence, Sterling Ponds senior apartments and the Eden Prairie Community Center.
Meanwhile, the agency has reduced the number of trips from Eden Prairie to the Target Campus in Brooklyn Park.
Route 687 will now have only two northbound and two southbound trips each weekday.
The schedule adjustment took effect Monday. The agency said that low ridership is the reason for the elimination of one trip in each direction.
