This year, you can see shows at Summerfest without going to Milwaukee.

For the first time, the music festival will be streaming select concerts — possibly up to 176 hours' worth — to its website and mobile website.

Following the lead of festivals like Coachella and Lollapalooza, Summerfest officials started exploring streaming options in 2011, said the Big Gig's chief marketing officer, John Boler, contracting Los Angeles-based Live Media Group this year. LMG has provided live streaming for the Emmys, Yahoo's concert-a-day series and other clients.

Up to four hours from six stages may be streamed each night, likely between 8 p.m. and midnight.

This year's lineup hasn't been announced yet. The 2014 roster included the Arctic Monkeys, Ziggy Marley, Fitz and the Tantrums, Joan Jett, Bonnie Raitt, Melissa Etheridge and REO Speedwagon.

The full experience would allow users to access multiple cameras per concert, watch four concerts at once and follow social media messaging live. Brand partners are being courted for an on-site pavilion where artist interviews and acoustic performances would also be filmed and streamed.
