Since its original introduction in 1999, the Audi TT coupe has been a cult car that now appears to have reached the status of icon. For 2008, the German automaker introduced the second generation of this uniquely styled two-door coupe.
Indeed, as a review in Cars.com recently noted, Audi's sports car has aged surprisingly well and is still "a head-turning design despite the influx of outlandishly styled models."
The second generation TT is five inches longer and three inches wider than the previous model -– allowing for a more aggressive stance and improved interior space.
Power for the new TT coupe is generated by either a 2.0L turbocharged FSI four-cylinder engine or a 3.2L V-6 engine. The TT includes a standard-spec six-speed manual gearbox. An automatic S tronic dual-clutch transmission is an available option. The base four-cylinder model is front-wheel drive while the V-6 models are quattro all-wheel drive equipped.
The all-new TT continues its 2-plus-2 seater interior configuration and is constructed using the third generation application of the Audi Space Frame (ASF), a ground-breaking aluminum technology developed by the company in the early 1990s for the first A8 series.
The inside of the cabin is defined as "generously equipped" by the automaker. It includes a 140-watt audio system, driver information system, automatic climate control, aluminum trim, cruise control, tilt/telescoping flat-bottom three-spoke steering wheel and automatic wind deflector. Seating is comfortable and supportive. The TT coupe boasts a long list of available options and available interior equipment packages.
