Seven Minnesota companies rank among the nation's 100 Best Corporate Citizens, according to Corporate Responsibility magazine.

In releasing its 11th annual list Tuesday, the magazine sizes up U.S. companies in a host of categories: environment, climate change, human rights, philanthropy, employee relations, financial performance and governance.

Tops in Minnesota is General Mills of Golden Valley, at No. 3. Others in the state include: Xcel Energy of Minneapolis (30th), 3M Co. of Maplewood (32nd), Hormel Foods Corp. of Austin (40th), Mosaic Co. of Plymouth (45th), Accenture Ltd. of Edina (75th) and Medtronic Inc. of Fridley (77th).
