The Star Tribune will move its online automotive for-sale listings to CarSoup.com, a website that lists new and used cars.
CarSoup, a Bloomington company formed in 1998 as a "multiple listing service for used vehicles," replaces the Star Tribune's in-house automotive sales website at StarTribune.com/cars, which was launched in 2006. Before that, the Star Tribune used Cars.com, which was co-owned by McClatchy Co., then the paper's owner.
CarSoup lists cars in 41 states, including Minnesota, and offers sellers $25 online classified ads "till it sells."
It also lists boats, recreational vehicles, snowmobiles and motorcycles. The company says it has more than 20 million monthly Web page views, a common measure of website traffic.
Under the nonexclusive agreement that begins Dec. 1, CarSoup will be available through the Star Tribune's website, KMSP-TV website MyFox9.com and directly from CarSoup.com.
The auto service connects shoppers with both car dealerships and autos being sold by individual owners.
