NEW BUSINESSAlliant Techsystems, Edina, has received a $100 million contract from Lockheed Martin to produce solid rocket propulsion systems for all three stages of the U.S. Navy's Trident II (D-5) Fleet Ballistic Missile. Under terms of the annual contract, Alliant will continue to supply Trident solid rocket propulsion systems to the Trident II (D-5) Missile System Prime Contractor, Lockheed Martin Space Systems Co., through 2013. Alliant also has been awarded a $21 million contract by the U.S. Army Aberdeen Contracting Center at Aberdeen Proving Grounds, Md., to supply various types of non-standard (non-NATO) weapon systems for the security forces of Afghanistan.
