Xcel Energy names 2 new execs to lead subsidiaries in Texas and Colorado

NEW YORK - Power company Xcel Energy Inc. on Tuesday named Riley Hill to the role of president and CEO of its Southwestern Public Service Co. (SPS) subsidiary.

Hill, 50, who has served as the chief operating officer of SPS since July, will succeed David Eves.

Eves, 51, who has served in his role since late 2006, has been named president and chief operating officer of Public Service Company of Colorado (PSCo), a Denver-based unit.

Both changes are effective Nov. 15.

Eves will eventually replace Tim Taylor, president and CEO of PSCo, who is retiring Dec. 31. Taylor, 62, will continue as CEO until his retirement, at which time Eves will assume the CEO title.

Lights out at U energy conference. Irony police notified.

Just as Lawrence Kazmerski, a top official at the National Renewable Energy Laboratory, was about to give the keynote address at the University of Minnesota's annual E3 conference at the RiverCentre in St. Paul, the lights went out, bathing the audience in darkness and a deep sense of irony.
