MONTREAL - Bombardier's CEO says employees should expect additional aircraft production cuts that may lead to more layoffs as the plane and train maker adjusts to dwindling demand.
The Montreal-based manufacturer has already announced 4,400 layoffs this year because of lower demand for its business and regional jets.
The lack of orders will force the company to consider increasing that number, CEO Pierre Beaudoin told reporters Monday after addressing the Canadian Club of Montreal.
Bombardier is the world's third-largest aircraft manufacturer.
Details of the changes will be announced before the end of January. The company discloses its third-quarter results on Dec. 3.
Beaudoin says it's a tough market for commercial aircraft.

Lights out at U energy conference. Irony police notified.
Just as Lawrence Kazmerski, a top official at the National Renewable Energy Laboratory, was about to give the keynote address at the University of Minnesota's annual E3 conference at the RiverCentre in St. Paul, the lights went out, bathing the audience in darkness and a deep sense of irony.
