Red Lion Hotels names George Schweitzer EVP and COO of hotel operations

SPOKANE, Wash. - Red Lion Hotels Corp. said Monday that George Schweitzer has been named executive vice president and chief operating officer of hotel operations.

Schweitzer, 54, has over 30 years of experience in the hospitality industry. Schweitzer was founder and CEO of LaborSage Inc., a software and management consulting company.

Schweitzer was also formerly senior vice president of hotel operations for Red Lion.

Red Lion Hotels is a hospitality and leisure company that owns and operates hotels under the Red Lion brand.

Shares declined 20 cents, or 3.9 percent, to $4.90.

Lights out at U energy conference. Irony police notified.

Just as Lawrence Kazmerski, a top official at the National Renewable Energy Laboratory, was about to give the keynote address at the University of Minnesota's annual E3 conference at the RiverCentre in St. Paul, the lights went out, bathing the audience in darkness and a deep sense of irony.
