Hertz names car rental unit president for the Americas

NEW YORK - Hertz Global Holdings Inc. on Monday named a company executive to oversee the car rental and leasing business in the Americas.

The company said Scott P. Sider, president of off-airport operations, would become executive vice president and president for the Americas rental and leasing businesses.

Sider, who joined Hertz in 1983, will replace Joseph R. Nothwang, who plans to retire Dec. 12, as the company disclosed in December 2008.

Lights out at U energy conference. Irony police notified.

Just as Lawrence Kazmerski, a top official at the National Renewable Energy Laboratory, was about to give the keynote address at the University of Minnesota's annual E3 conference at the RiverCentre in St. Paul, the lights went out, bathing the audience in darkness and a deep sense of irony.
