30 new jobs to be created when gun-barrel maker Precision Machine opens plan in Sturgis, SD

STURGIS, S.D. - As many as 30 new jobs are coming to the South Dakota town of Sturgis.

California-based Bar-Sto Precision Machine Co. has announced plans to open a new facility on the south end of the Sturgis industrial park.

The Bar-Sto plant will manufacture precision gun barrels for most of the handguns in use today by law enforcement agencies, as well as by competitive shooters.

Bar-Sto CEO Irv Stone said the local business community and economic development group did a good job making the company feel welcome.

Construction begins in the spring.

Lights out at U energy conference. Irony police notified.

Just as Lawrence Kazmerski, a top official at the National Renewable Energy Laboratory, was about to give the keynote address at the University of Minnesota's annual E3 conference at the RiverCentre in St. Paul, the lights went out, bathing the audience in darkness and a deep sense of irony.
