AOL names CEO of online retailer Gilt Groupe to its board

NEW YORK - AOL, the Internet service provider owned by Time Warner Inc., on Friday named Gilt Groupe CEO Susan Lyn0e to its board.

Lyne and nine other directors will join the AOL board on Oct. 26 after AOL separates from its parent. Gilt Groupe is an online fashion and travel retailer with more than 1.5 million members.

Previously, Lyne was the CEO of Martha Stewart Living Omnimedia Inc. She also served in various positions at Walt Disney Co., eventually becoming president of ABC Entertainment.

Lyne also has experience in the magazine industry, including launching Premiere magazine in 1987.

In May, Time Warner announced plans that its AOL unit would be separated into an independent, publicly traded company. 06

Lights out at U energy conference. Irony police notified.

Just as Lawrence Kazmerski, a top official at the National Renewable Energy Laboratory, was about to give the keynote address at the University of Minnesota's annual E3 conference at the RiverCentre in St. Paul, the lights went out, bathing the audience in darkness and a deep sense of irony.
