IRVINE, Calif. - Mazda North American Operations said Tuesday its October U.S. sales fell as demand declined for its Mazda5 and Mazda6 models.
BY THE NUMBERS: Mazda sales fell 8.4 percent to 15,068 vehicles from 16,442 in the same month last year. For the first 10 months of the year, Mazda sales fell 24.4 percent to 175,257 units from 231,850.
TOP SELLER: Sales of the restyled Mazda3 rose 10.4 percent to 6,729 units.
Just as Lawrence Kazmerski, a top official at the National Renewable Energy Laboratory, was about to give the keynote address at the University of Minnesota's annual E3 conference at the RiverCentre in St. Paul, the lights went out, bathing the audience in darkness and a deep sense of irony.
