Xiotech Corp. named Alan Atkinson its new president and CEO, replacing Casey Powell in a move that had been anticipated since news of Powell's departure surfaced last week. The Eden Prairie data storage firm hired Atkinson from competitor EMC Corp. of Masschusetts. He formerly was vice president of EMC's storage software group. Powell, who had been CEO for four years, will continue to be a Xiotech board member.

State regulators approve wind farmMinnesota regulators on Thursday approved a 200-megawatt wind farm in southern Minnesota that would be paid for by Wisconsin utility ratepayers. The Minnesota Public Utilities Commission said the Wisconsin Power & Light Co. project can be built just north of Albert Lea in Freeborn County. The utility received a permit for a 200-megawatt wind farm, the first phase of what officials hope will eventually become a 400-megawatt project. Wisconsin Power & Light's parent company is Alliant Energy Corp. of Madison, Wis.

Delta integrates frequent-flier programsDelta Air Lines has completed the integration of its frequent-flier program with that of its subsidiary, Northwest Airlines, Chief Executive Richard Anderson said. The changeover means that Northwest frequent-flier members have had their WorldPerks converted to SkyMiles and will have SkyMiles issued to them in the future for eligible travel and credit card purchases, Delta spokesman Paul Skrbec said. Atlanta-based Delta and Eagan-based Northwest remain on course to obtain a single operating certificate by the end of this year.
