United to offer daily flights between Duluth and Chicago

In time for winter holiday travel, United Airlines will offer nonstop service between Duluth and Chicago.
The twice-daily service, on United's regional carrier SkyWest, will start Dec. 17, the airline announced Tuesday along with other new service elsewhere in the nation.
"Right now we are making a multimillion-dollar investment in a new airport terminal in Duluth, because air service is vital to our regional economy," said U.S. Rep. Jim Oberstar, D-Minn., chairman of the House Transportation and Infrastructure Committee whose vast district includes Duluth. "United's investment in Duluth is adding momentum to that effort, and these additional flights will give travelers more ways to come to the Twin Ports for business and tourism."
SkyWest flights will use 50-seat jets.
Delta is currently the only airline providing Duluth with daily scheduled service.
