CoCo, the co-working company with three locations in the Twin Cities, is opening a new space in northeast Minneapolis.
The company will open for business in the Van Buren building, at 1400 NE. Van Buren St., later this month, in offices formerly occupied by Sport Ngin, which moved to a building on NE. Broadway.
"Northeast is the most requested location by members," said Don Ball, co-founder of CoCo. "There's this really, increasingly wide band of people who are showing up in co-working, and I think we're going to see an interesting clientele."
CoCo Northeast will be the fourth location for the company, joining Uptown, St. Paul and the flagship location in the Grain Exchange building in downtown Minneapolis.
The new space will have 10 start-up suites with closed-door offices for groups from 2 to 14 people. It will have 6 spaces for groups of four to eight, five different types of meeting rooms and plenty of open space for individual workers.
Members of CoCo are able to spend time at any of the four locations, but Ball expects to reach new customers — freelancers, consultants — in northeast Minneapolis, since co-working spaces often attract people from the neighborhood.
The cost of 24/7 access to CoCo's co-working spaces is $350 per month, though the company offers several different packages.
The move comes not long after CoCo closed its space in Fargo, N.D., citing lack of demand. There is no such problem in the Twin Cities, Ball said.
"It does reflect the difference in maturity of the markets," he said. "In the Twin Cities, we seem to have continuing demand. It never quite caught on in Fargo."
