3M Co. appeared on a list of 50 companies that are most attractive to college graduates with business and engineering degrees, compiled by a research firm and promoted Tuesday by CNNMoney.com.

The Maplewood-based conglomerate, Minnesota's most valuable company by market capitalization, ranked 45th on the list for business students, which was led by Google and the Big Four accounting firms. It was 32nd on the list for engineering students, who also ranked Google first.

The survey was conducted by Universum and involved more than 200,000 business and engineering students in the world's twelve largest economies.

In comparison to previous years, automotive companies climbed sharply in the rankings, especially among engineering students.
