Nelson agreed. “I recognize a lifetime of substance abuse … but that’s not what caused the crime. What caused the crime was pure unadulterated greed.”

In addition to the $2.9 million in restitution that is part of Holt’s criminal sentence, he was also fined $300,000 last month by the Minnesota Commerce Department for the same actions.
